Bean ran. He'd never have been able to do that before all of this.
He ran in search of Achilles. He was still careful, but he kept moving, far faster than he'd ever managed before he had to in this moment. The moment he spotted one of the other kids, he stopped though, and probably taking far more care than necessary, looked around for Achilles and the rest of the group.
He spotted them down an alleyway, and took care to be open in his approach. Though it really wouldn't do to be spotted by another bully, he was close enough here that the 'protect the family' instincts should be to his aid, even though he was being excluded at the moment, and just appearing right in front of them would do more harm than good.
No one tries to stop him, though they do drop their (to be frank, utterly irrelevant) conversation as he approaches, and silence reigns until he opens his mouth.
"Ulysses is out of hospital, and he wants your blood," he says, looking directly at Achilles. There is no way he's going to let this message be misinterpreted.
Achilles accepted Bean's story without a word.
The others aren't so immediately accepting, and so Bean has to relate exactly what he heard, word for word, before they accept he's telling the truth.
Meanwhile, Achilles has evidently been formulating a plan. He lays it out to the group. His plan, is for him to go into hiding while Ulysses gets used to the system. Bean thinks it's a stupid plan, but that's not his call. He's not in charge. He's not papa Achilles. The rest of the group don't like it either, but for different reasons.
In any case, once Achilles has decided something, that's what will happen. That night, Achilles heads off, refusing to say where he's going, so that none of them will let it out. Bean spent the time between their discussions and Achilles disappearance deliberating with himself as to whether he should follow Achilles or not. Ultimately, he'd be of more use with the main group, who'd only have Poke as a leader.
