Bean is, well, no one knows his exact age. He's thinks he's about 4, but he looks a lot smaller, due to a genetic condition.

Bean is the only survivor of an illegal experiment into genetics and as a consequence, has a genetic condition in which a key, now called Anton's key, has been turned. The consequences of this, are that, while he grows slowly, always being small for his age, he will simply never stop growing, eventually becoming a giant, before his heart, or some other organ gives up, unable to sustain the size of his body. The other side of this equation, is that his brain never stops growing, hence his brain need never stop making new connections. As a consequence, he has an eidetic memory, and reasoning skills that work far faster than anyone else around him.
