He stood on the wharfside for what felt like forever. Looking down on this thing in the water, not understanding. Until, finally he understood. Or, maybe, he simply accepted something he didn't want to believe.

Poke was dead. A knife in her eye and a heart that will beat no more.

Just as he had feared.

Whatever may pass between boys and girls, it didn't stop hatred and the desire for vengeance.

He stood by the waterside. Looking down into the water, the lights of Boompjes Straat twinkling in the ripples. Bean stood and knew. He had a choice here. He could either tell everybody. And if he was to do that, he had to do it now, right this minute. Or, he would have to keep his silence forever.

Achilles could kill, and if Bean gave him enough of a reason, even half of a suspicion that Bean had seen these events, Bean would be doomed immediately as 'Ulysses strikes again'. That would be unexcusably stupid of him. No, all he could do, was to hold his silence. Act like he'd seen nothing.

He could curse himself inwardly, for leaving when he thought he finally knew it all. For not calling out. Yet, externally, he could show nothing of this. Not to Achilles, not to anyone.

Poke, the girl who had saved his life, gave him a name and listened to his plan, had now died because of it. And, he could have saved her, while her last actions were trying to save his life. So many mistakes, Poke! Trying to look after someone else's life, rather than your own. Going off alone with Achilles. Would Bean be damned by her mistakes too? No, he'll die from his own mistakes, thank you.

Having made his decisions, Bean retreated back to the crawlspace. No one had missed him or Poke yet. Well, he'd keep the mask of blankness that has served him so well on for now.
